La Milady

Milady Beach is named in honor of Lady Mary Caroline—daughter of the 11th Earl of Pembroke and the woman behind Villa Marbella (which gave its name to the beach located just north of Milady). This wealthy, eccentric heiress left an indelible mark on the history of Biarritz; indeed, the beach facing her former estate bears her nickname to this day: La Milady.

The Milady break features a mixed sand and rock bottom and works best at mid-tide with an East or South-Easterly wind. As it is not the easiest spot on the coast to surf, we recommend that beginners visit at low tide, while experienced surfers should aim for mid-tide. Conditions are best when the swell is between 1 and 1.5 meters.

Located further away from the center of Biarritz, this spot is more easily accessible by car; you are very likely to find a space in the various parking lots lining the area.
